Great art is essential to the design-led City, and Council's Public Art Policy was adopted in 2013 to provide a framework for Auckland Council's leadership in this area.

Policy calls for the art in our public places to delight, challenge and inspire in ways that range from the traditional to the innovative. It also firmly states council's priority to enrich the natural and built environment of Tāmaki Makaurau with the expression of Māori culture.

Delivered in tandem with council's planning and design practices, public art will contribute significantly to Auckland's transformation, creating lasting benefits for all who call the region home.
